Writer. PhD in Catalan Language and Literature. Associate Professor of Catalan Literature at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).

He has published poetry and non fiction, and also some fiction and books on Catalan literature. In 1988 he was awarded the Carles Riba poetry prize for Final de festa, in 1996 the Fundació Enciclopèdia Catalana for Suomenlinna and in 1999 the Ferran Soldevila for Josep Carner: l'exili del mite (1945-1970). He has just published a selection of Catalan short stories translated into German: Willkommen in Katalonien (2007).

He has edited a number of poetry anthologies, and volumes on Josep Carner, Gabriel Ferrater and Marià Manent, as well as the reader Literatura catalana contemporània (with Glòria Bordons). He has also coordinated two collections of essays on the city for Barcelona's City Hall: Barcelona acrostic and Barcelona 365. Time and the city.

He has published translations into Catalan, mainly from English, of novels, poetry and song lyrics.

Jaume has taught at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (1994-1999), Duke University (1996) and the University of British Columbia (2007, as visiting professor), and has worked for the “Duke in Spain” program in Madrid and the Trinity College “Global Studies” program in Barcelona. From September 2004 to November 2006 he was Director of the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes, the official agency for the promotion of Catalan literature.

He has been a member of the board of the Catalan PEN Centre (1995-2004) and the editorial board of the Caràcters literary magazine (2000-2004). He has attended international literary festivals in Argentina, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Mexico, Palestine and Quebec. He has also regularly contributed to numerous other journals, newspapers, and radio and TV programs (Avui, Catalunya Ràdio, "Quadern" d'El País, El Periódico, Canal 33).

Between 1992 and 1997 he co-edited with Oriol Izquierdo the electronic magazine, 1991 Revista magnètica. He also co-edited with Xavier Berenguer the CD-Rom Dotze sentits. Poesia catalana d'avui, which was awarded the 1996 Möbius Prize for the Best Spanish multimedia product on Art & Culture. In 2000 he created the Lletra website at the UOC.
